Terms of Service
Last updated: July 26, 2026
Introduction
Welcome to PortEntry (“we,” “our,” or “us”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of portentry.com and all of its customs and trade calculators, guides, and related features (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Acceptance and Changes
By accessing or using PortEntry, you confirm that you have read and accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which forms part of them. We may update these Terms at any time; continued use after a change means you accept the current version.
Educational Estimates, Not Customs or Legal Advice
The Service exists to give general, educational estimates. The import-duty, landed-cost, customs-value, currency, volumetric-weight, and container-load calculators apply standard formulas to the numbers you enter; their results are planning aids, not customs rulings, tariff classifications, or personalised legal, tax, or brokerage advice, and not a promise of any outcome. PortEntry is not a customs broker, a freight forwarder, an accountant, or a law firm. For anything that affects a declaration, the duty owed, or whether goods may be imported, rely on the official customs authority or a licensed broker rather than this Service.
What the Service Provides
PortEntry offers, free of charge:
- An import duty calculator with an optional VAT/GST layer
- A landed-cost calculator with per-unit costing
- A customs-value calculator for FOB, CFR, and CIF bases
- A trade currency converter with an optional FX margin
- A volumetric-weight calculator and a container-load calculator
- Educational guides, a Learn section, and an illustrated Trade & Customs Museum
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.
Your Responsibilities
When you use the Service, you agree to:
- Use the tools in good faith for your own trade planning
- Enter accurate figures, and check the customs value, duty rate, currency, and dimensions before relying on a result
- Take responsibility for the declarations you file, and confirm anything material with the customs authority or a licensed broker
- Not attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the Service
- Not use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to infringe others’ rights
Assumption of Risk
Customs, duty, and compliance choices carry real financial and legal consequences. You use the information on this Service at your own risk and remain solely responsible for deciding how a given shipment is classified, valued, and declared. Always confirm figures that matter with the official customs authority, a licensed broker, or a qualified tax adviser over anything here.
No Warranty
The Service is provided “as is.” While we aim for accuracy, we make no warranties, express or implied, that calculations are error-free or fit for your particular purpose, and we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PortEntry and its suppliers will not be liable for any damages — including financial loss, penalties, demurrage, or loss of data — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damage.
Intellectual Property
The site’s original text, design, and calculator code are the property of PortEntry and protected by copyright. Museum and Learn material sourced from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons remains under its original licenses. You may use the tools for personal, non-commercial purposes; you may not copy or repurpose the site’s materials for commercial use without permission.
Third-Party Links and Advertising
The Service may link to third-party sites and displays advertising through networks such as Google AdSense. We do not control or endorse third-party content, and using any linked site or advertised product is at your own risk.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, and you submit to the courts of that jurisdiction for any dispute.
